Weekend brunch: Nonna’s

This month, we continued our hunt for the best weekend brunch by venturing a little out of town to Nonna’s in Woburn Sands. This deli-cum-restaurant offers a varied and sizeable breakfast menu, from superfood-filled coconut porridge to sausage or bacon brioche rolls.

First impressions walking through the doors were good. The ambience felt upmarket, but the conversation with the waiting team was enjoyably relaxed. The eclectic décor on the way to our table felt initially overdone, but the more we absorbed it, the more it felt right. We sat in the restaurant, as opposed to the deli – which was a little more out the way.

The food was served quickly, yet still tasted fresh and was of a high quality. We sampled the eggs florentine and the full english offerings and both of which satisfied not only in taste, but also in quantity and looks. The eggs florentine came with two perfectly poached eggs oozing their beautiful sunset orange centre beautifully when cut in to, pairing well with the salmon, spinach and hollandaise. The full english came with a choice of eggs, choice of tomatoes and a bold seasoning to create a sophisticated twist on this weekend classic.

Nonna’s self-proclaimed description of having ‘an attentive team delivering five-star service’ pretty much hits the nail on the head, with a strong guest experience throughout. Staff were attentive and efficient, but at the same time were personable and approachable – the final jewel in Nonna’s crown.

Pricing? Yes, it will cost more than your local Wetherspoons, but it wins on quality of food, quality of service and quality of restaurant. Top marks from us.

Nonna’s is open for breakfast daily from 9:30am to 11:30am. Missed breakfast? You can grab a Full English breakfast pizza from 11.30am-1pm.

Nonna’s also offers lunch, dinner and takeaway menus. Book in advance on 01908 584397.
