Macbeth comes to Stantonbury

The multi-award winning MARK BRUCE COMPANY brings their haunting and critically acclaimed dance/theatre re-imagining of Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth’ to the Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes on May 17th and 18th – it’ll be the last dates in a mammoth UK tour.

With direction and choreography by visionary artistic director Mark Bruce, a cast of nine outstanding performers and dramatic design by the same creative team behind Dracula and The Odyssey, Mark Bruce Company’s ‘Macbeth’ realise a beautifully harrowing vision of an internal wasteland formed from the pursuit of power through ruthless means.

Drama, dance and film audiences are drawn to Bruce’s imaginative vision of the treacherous Macbeths’ (Jonathan Goddard, Eleanor Duval left, photo by Nicole Guarino) toxic world of jealousy, ambition and corruption. Set in a supernatural and brutal underworld, both tragic and beautiful, with a horror film atmosphere of menace and murder.

Don’t take our word for it – what the critics say:

“Dank, dark and cleverly composed dance-theatre adaptation of Macbeth.” The Stage

“Bruce’s musical instincts seldom fail him and the soundtrack — a seamless mix of Arvo Pärt, sound effects and a sprinkling of Schubert stitched together by Chris Samuels — is a perfect fit for the production’s unrelenting darkness.” Broadway

“Goddard and Duval are spellbinding together…This really is one of the most atmospheric productions of Macbeth that one can remember, down in no small part to impressive lighting by Guy Hoare which enhances every scene.” The Reviews Hub
